The Project is part of the Northern Collector Project which is the second phase of the development scenario selected under the Water Sources Master Plan for Nairobi and 13 Satellite Towns, prepared by Egis from 2010 to 2012.
This project is related to the second component for the construction of the raw and treated water pipelines ((138,000 m3/day).
The new pipeline route is as follows:
○ Raw Water Transimission Main from downstream of existing Thika Dam to proposed new Treatment Works at Kigoro (5.5 km long, DN 1200)
○ Treatment Water transmission Main from Outlet Chamber at new Treatment Works at Kigoro to existing Kabete Tanks via the existing Ngethu-Gigiri-Kabete pipeline route/Wayleave (48.9 km long DN1200 +10.4 km long DN800).
